To my friends and family that I hold so dear
I don’t want you to think I forgot you this year
But once again just like in the past
After Thanksgiving, Christmas comes too fast
No cards did I order or write out by hand
This isn’t exactly what I had planned
But such is life and what I will do
Is send this special message to you
I won’t tell you all that I did this year
But I can write you a book if you want to hear
Instead I’ll just wish the best to your family and you
From now and throughout 2017 too
Maybe next year I’ll have cards out on time
So at the last minute I won’t have to rhyme
But perhaps instead I should have a mission
To make these rhymes an annual tradition
